Germany has now ratified the Unified Patent Court Agreement and, according to its terms, it comes into force on the first day of the fourth month following this final ratification, i.e. 1 June 2023. Once the Court is ready to open for business, the first European patents with unitary effect can be granted by the European Patent Office (EPO) without further delay. Please follow the materials posted here for continuous updates.
Our lawyers in Germany and (under the recently published rules) our experienced European Patent Attorneys in UK and Germany are able to act before the new court. Thus we have over 25 team members able to act before the new court and able to bring all their litigation and patent opposition experience to bear across any technology in which our clients may litigate or face litigation.
