Andrew is a Technical Assistant to the Patents team based in the Farnham office.
Andrew has successfully completed the Intellectual Property PGCert at Queen Mary University London and is currently training towards qualification as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney.
Andrew assists in all matters related to patent prosecution at the UKIPO and the EPO, and routinely assists with prosecuting standards essential patents in the telecoms field. Andrew has a particular interest in digital and analogue signal processing and electronics for audio applications.
Andrew graduated from the University of Glasgow with an honours degree in Electronic Engineering (BEng) in 2014. Upon completing his honours degree he was accepted onto a PhD programme in electronics and nano-scale engineering.
Andrew’s research focussed on the exploitation of polycrystalline diamond (PCD) thin films as a material for micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS). Subsequently, Andrew has experience with MEMS and semiconductor device fabrication and characterisation processes, and has researched and developed intrinsic PCD micro-cantilevers for passive micro-rheology applications and boron-doped PCD piezo-resistive sensors.
Andrew maintains a keen interest in electronic engineering outside of work and is just as capable with a soldering iron as he is with pen and paper. Andrew likes to chat about what is happening in the workshop and is happy to discuss your ideas with you from an IP perspective.
When not studying for the UK and European qualifying exams, Andrew enjoys spending time with his family and making music.
