Maucher Jenkins to provide innovation advice at University of Portsmouth funding round

Date: 14 July 2020

Maucher Jenkins is pleased to announce a new partnership with the University of Portsmouth. The University holds regular opportunities for start-ups to pitch for seed funding. Our Associate Dr Nick Wright will take part in panels to help decide which start-ups will receive future funding, and will additionally provide free patentability or trade mark advice to promising start-ups.

This new arrangement will ensure that start-ups from the University of Portsmouth get the necessary intellectual property support as early as possible in their innovation journey.

“The enthusiasm of inventors and students is infectious; meeting innovative people is the best part of my job” said Nick Wright. “We are very excited about the opportunity to get to know the students at the University of Portsmouth and the ideas they have. Researchers here are engaging in world-leading research and innovation, and intellectual property protection is vital to ensure commercial success.”

Lynda Povey and Carley Hawkins of the University of Portsmouth said “so many business ideas do not succeed because of a lack of intellectual property protection or awareness, so we are pleased that Maucher Jenkins has offered their services. We are grateful for this generous offer and are excited about what the future holds for our start-ups.”
