Partner Handong Ran speaks at Guangzhou Intellectual Property Protection Centre training session

On 27 - 28 October 2020, Guangzhou Intellectual Property Protection Centre hosted their second training session on overseas Intellectual Property protection at the Grand International Hotel in Guangzhou city, China. The session focused on “How to Use WIPO Global Service Systems” and “How to Deal with the Hot Topics in Overseas Intellectual Property Protection”.


This training aims to help Chinese enterprises understand the latest developments and features of intellectual property protection in developed regions such as Europe, America and Japan, and regions involved in the Belt and Road initiative. It hopes to optimise the overseas layout of intellectual property, strengthening dispute handling capabilities and upgrading overseas IP protection for companies.


This training session covered the following topics:

 

  • PCT international patent applications and layout strategy for overseas patents.
  • The latest developments in the Madrid System of International Trademark Protection and their application.
  • Intellectual property risk management and dispute handling in cross-border e-commerce.
  • Practice and case sharing for the protection of intellectual property of imported and exported goods in Customs.
  • Strategy for European software patent application.


Maucher Jenkins partner Handong Ran, Song Yanan from Guangzhou SCIHEAD IP, Luo Dan from Huajin IP, and Chen Chaoqun from Guangzhou Customs were the seminar's main speakers.


Handong gave two headline talks, titled "Intellectual Property Risk Management and Dispute Handling in Cross-border E-commerce" and "Strategy for European Software Patent Application" respectively. These were followed by an enthusiastic audience discussion.
