To strengthen ties in the field of intellectual property, the 2019 delegation of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) came to Beijing and Shenzhen, China, June 16 to June 21 2019. The delegation had extensive and in-depth communications with China’s intellectual property regulators, domestic and international intellectual property associations, intellectual property service providers and high-tech companies.
The 2019 delegation was led by AIPLA Executive Director Lisa Jorgensen, AIPLA Director and Second Vice Chairman Patrick Coyne, AIPLA China Committee’s Chairwoman Qin Letao and Co-Chair Craig Tucker. Delegates included experienced intellectual property practitioners from the United States, China, and Europe, as well as senior management from high-tech enterprises.
During the 2019 China trip, AIPLA delegates held talks with Duncan Wilson, the US Embassy Intellectual Property Commissioner, about the impact of Sino-US relations on intellectual property protection. The delegation additionally conducted meaningful communications with IP regulators on the latest legislation and enforcement of intellectual property protection in China. These included the Intellectual Property Tribunal of the Supreme People's Court, National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), Shenzhen Intellectual Property Bureau, and Nanshan Intellectual Property Protection Centre.
Furthermore, the delegation exchanged thoughts with the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the All-China Patent Attorneys Association (ACPAA) and the China Intellectual Property Law Society. With Chinese intellectual property service providers, such as Wanhuida IP Law Firm, Yuhong IP Law Firm, and Advance China IP Law Firm, delegates shared experiences and built ties. At the same time, the delegation also established ties with high-tech companies in Shenzhen, for example, HKC Group and OPPO.
