Maucher Jenkins welcomes Dr Joachim Rüttgers
Maucher Jenkins is pleased to welcome Dr Joachim Rüttgers, who joined the firm on 1 January 2026 and will be based in the Freiburg office.
Dr Rüttgers has been active in the field of intellectual property law since 1992. He is qualified as a German Patent Attorney and is authorised to represent clients before the European Patent Office, the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the Unified Patent Court.
His professional focus includes patent prosecution and examination proceedings, opposition proceedings, trade mark and design filings, as well as employee invention law. His technical expertise covers, in particular, mechanical engineering, fastening technology, medical technology, metrology, optics, optical spectroscopy and laser technology.
Of particular note is Dr Rüttgers’ many years of experience as external head of the patent department of an internationally active medium-sized company, which has given him a highly practice-oriented perspective on intellectual property protection from an in-house and commercial viewpoint.
Dr Rüttgers comments:
“I am very pleased to continue my work as a patent attorney at Maucher Jenkins as of 1 January 2026. The firm offers an excellent professional environment and a strong international focus, enabling us to support clients in a sustainable and long-term manner.”
Dr Michael Nielen, Partner at Maucher Jenkins, adds:
“We are delighted to welcome Dr Rüttgers to Maucher Jenkins. His outstanding experience, particularly at the interface between industry and intellectual property law, represents a significant asset for our firm and for our clients.”
With the appointment of Dr Rüttgers, Maucher Jenkins further strengthens its market position while at the same time enhancing the firm’s strategic advisory capabilities.
