Dr. Adrianus van den Berg is an experienced German and European patent attorney with extensive expertise in medical technology, mechanical engineering, imaging, and computer science.
His work focuses on drafting and managing patent applications as well as handling opposition and nullity proceedings.
Dr. Adrianus van den Berg began his academic career with a bachelor’s degree in Life Science & Technology, specializing in biomedical engineering and biomaterials, from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He subsequently earned a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on biomaterials from the same university. His research took him to the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering at the University of New South Wales and the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia in Sydney, where he worked on developing bioreactors, microfluidic lab-on-a-chip systems, and 3D imaging technologies. He completed his Ph.D. in quantitative time-lapse microscopy and stem cell biology at the Helmholtz Center Munich and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, with a dissertation titled “Influence of Cell-Cycle Phase on HSC Lineage Production and Expansion.”
Dr. Adrianus van den Berg trained as a patent attorney at df-mp, as well as at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court. Since 2017, he has been qualified as a German Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, European Trademark Attorney, and European Design Attorney.
Before joining Maucher Jenkins in 2025, Dr. Adrianus van den Berg worked at the law firm df-mp, where he was extensively involved in patent prosecution and opposition proceedings.
