Overview:

Peter-Michael Nern studied physics and technics of electronic devices at the Technical University of Ilmenau and graduated in 1986 as a graduate engineer for electronic devices. He then worked for several years in Berlin as a development engineer in the field of optoelectronics in measurement technology.

In 1996 Peter-Michael Nern has been admitted as German Patent Attorney. He is also European Patent Attorney and European Trademark & Design Attorney as well as a registered representative before the Unified Patent Court.

After some time as a partner in his training firm, Peter-Michael Nern founded his own patent law firm in Berlin in 2002, with which he represented clients in patent grant and opposition proceedings as well as in registration proceedings for trademarks and designs. In 2013 he incorporated the firm into the supra-local patent law firm Peter-Michael Nern & Brandt Patentanwälte, with independent offices in Berlin and Bielefeld. One focus of his work is the drafting of patent applications and accompanying them through the examination and grant procedure, in particular in the fields of telecommunications and technical working and measuring methods.

In April 2025, Peter-Michael Nern joined Maucher Jenkins in an advising function.

In his spare time, Peter-Michael Nern has played squash enthusiastically for many years and enjoys listening to good music.
