Currently pharmaceutical companies are searching for a vaccine against the coronavirus, however this will take some time. Therefore, the companies are also trying to find treatments for already infected people.

 

Medical experts hope that known medical compounds may play a role in treating the coronavirus. Under patent law such new uses of a known product can be protected by so-called second medical use patents.
